Tableaus

Tableaus was completed in July of 2004, and was written for the Washington State University Percussion Ensemble. The piece is a fantasy that begins slow and sparse in instrumentation. Over the time of the piece tempo, counterpoint, and instrumentation increase giving the piece a forward trajectory of energy and excitement. This all comes together with a loud hit from the tam-tam that fades away as final chorale statement of the original tune fades in from the marimba.
