Changing Winds
Program Notes:
As an import to Kansas the first thing that struck me upon my arrival is the wind. This unique Kansas feature is not a unique to discovery to me but is a concept I have wanted to deal with musically since I have been here. Changing Winds is a musical double entendre. It plays on the ideas of the multitude of wind types I have experienced since living hear; the bitter cold, rushing wind, the still wind on humid day, etc. It also plays on the idea of rhapsodic and virtuosic music in which small chamber groups shift through the tutti ensemble.
